Don't Let Congress Turn Its Back on Childrens' Health

The fight over the historic Mercury and Air Toxics Standards rule has begun. This clean air rule would prevent 130,000 childhood asthma attacks and prevent up to 11,000 deaths a year.

But Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe immediately filed a Congressional Review Act that could not only kill the new Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, but make it impossible for EPA to ever issue another such rule.

He and his pro-pollution colleagues want to destroy this rule that would prevent 90% of the toxic mercury in coal burned by power plants from being emitted into our air. They essentially want our children to breathe in toxic pollution.

Enough is enough. Tell your representatives not to join Senator Inhofe in his effort to kill the important new mercury regulation.
SUBJECT: Don't turn your back on my health

Dear [Decision Maker],

It's time for Congress to stop playing politics with our health.

The Mercury and Air Toxics Standards rule is one of the most important job-creating regulations to come out of the EPA in decades.

Instead of attacking it, Congress should be embracing a rule that would prevent up to 11,000 deaths a year and 90% of the toxic mercury in coal burned by power plants from being emitted into our air.

I won't stand by as children breathe in toxic pollution that causes brain damage and you shouldn't either.

Please fight for the health of all Americans and defend the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards rule.
