Sexual harassment is pervasive in our schools. Nearly half of U.S. middle and high school students were sexually harassed last school year, both in person and online.
And even though many students say that sexual harassment has negative effects on them, including causing them to skip school and have trouble studying, only 9 percent report the incidents to an adult.
It's time for everyone to take action. We can all help to empower teachers and students within our own schools and communities to put a stop to sexual harassment. We can protect these students if we take the appropriate steps to prevent sexual harassment and intervene early when harassment occurs, all this and more is detailed in AAUW's groundbreaking new study, Crossing the Line.
Take the pledge to do your part to stop sexual harassment today.
Every student has a right to learn in a school environment that is free from harassment.
Keep up the great work. Look what you've accomplished!
