Bush: Take Responsibility for the Financial Crisis

Target: George W. Bush, 43rd U.S. President
Sponsored by: I Am Progress/CAP Action
A recent New York Times article discussing the financial crisis our country is in puts it plainly: "The story of how we got here is partly one of Mr. Bush's own making, according to a review of his tenure that included interviews with dozens of current and former administration officials."

President Bush is trying to dodge responsibility, saying that he is "looking forward to the true history of the financial crisis being written" and that there's "no question part of the crisis came about because of the excesses in lending in the housing market." But the truth is that his administration ignored warnings about housing market problems, refused to confront irresponsible lending and let Wall Street build mortgage-backed securities into a massively complicated Ponzi scheme that wrecked the global economy.

The financial crisis is the result of calculated deregulation and gross negligence by the previous administration and congressional conservatives. Tell the 43rd U.S. president, George W. Bush, to take responsibility for the mess he and his administration has created!

Dear President Bush,

Your recent speech at the American Enterprise Institute about your domestic policy legacy suggests that you are not taking the responsibility you should be for our country's current financial crisis. I urge you to come clean about the failure of your administration's policies in regard to the economy.

In the speech, you said that you are "looking forward to the true history of this financial crisis being written," adding that there's "no question part of the crisis came about because of excesses in lending in the housing market." But a recent New York Times investigation found that "the story of how we got here is partly one of Mr. Bush's own making, according to a review of his tenure that included interviews with dozens of current and former administration officials."

It would be nice for once to see a politician, let alone the former leader of a nation stand up and say "my bad". Once again the taxpayer suffers and is left to clean up the mess. THANKS BUSH!!

It seems that guy,( he's not a man, men take responsibility for their actions) will lie to his own mother to this day.

I also believe with all my heart that the higher oil prices were only because Bush and others he associated with wanted more money in their pockets at the expense of Americans once again, I realize every President has made a buck off of America but this was just way too far over the top, I would not want to be you sir when you stand before our Almighty God some day because everyone, yes even you will have to answer to a higher power………………… But, there is still time ask God's forgiveness and ask every man you've wronged that God brings to your mind and God will forgive, though all men may not that is between them and God but as long as anyone has a breath left I believe there is a chance to make things right - maybe not with all men but you can with God and that is all that matters. Turn to Him.

We are all paying for this. The entire country is hurting. Mr. Bush should take responsibility for his actions, as should McCain for his part of the Keating Five.

So many people don't/won't take responsibility for their own actions. As a previous leader, it's truly embarassing that you are one of "Them."

Well, George W, I hope you're enjoying your life in Dallas in your mansion. I may lose my little condo here in Albuquerque, as well as my car, my credit rating all of which I have worked hard for years to acquire. My hours at work have been cut by 20%, my hourly rate has been cut by 20% as well as the president of the company tries desperately to keep from going under. YOU MUST BE SO PROUD. YOU ARE EITHER A FASCIST (I'M SURE YOUR PARTNER IN THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY, DICKIE CHENEY IS) OR YOU ARE THE STUPIDIST, MOST INCOMPENTENT BUMBLING IDIOT TO EVER BE ILLEGALLY PUT INTO THIS OFFICE. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON YOUR AND YOUR CRONY COHORTS. EXCEPT I KNOW THAT NONE OF YOU NARCISSISTS HAVE ANY SHAME.
