Stop Forest Service from making it easier to kill carnivores in the wild

Target: Secretary of Agriculture
Sponsored by: Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund
The U.S. Forest Service wants to make it easier to kill wolves, bears, cougars and other carnivores in federally designated wilderness areas -- America's most wild and remote places. Worse, the proposal would relax restrictions on using aerial gunning, motorized vehicles and cyanide guns to kill these magnificent creatures.

Send the message straight to the Secretary of Agriculture, who oversees the Forest Service. Tell him to force the Forest Service to withdraw this invasive proposal.

I am writing to oppose the Forest Service proposal to revise the Forest Service Manual regarding the predator control policy in designated Wilderness Areas and Research Natural Areas.

I believe that this could lead to indiscriminate killing of wolves and other essential carnivores in areas where they have -- until now -- lived free and wild.

The proposal is in opposition to the intent of the Wilderness Act, which is to maintain roadless areas in their natural, remote conditions. Killing predator species -- key to a healthy ecosystem -- could alter the natural conditions and upset the ecological balance of these special places.

Furthermore, invasive methods such as aerial gunning, motorized vehicles and the use of M-44 cyanide guns to kill native predator populations in these wild lands are inappropriate.

I hope you will consider my comments and abandon the proposal on predator control.

The food cycle in that area is very fragile, and it would totally tip the balance that took so long to create. Also I love all of the carnivores in that area, from the bears to the cougras. But my favourite out of them all is the wolf :) All of those animals DESERVE to live and we shouldn't kill or hurt them for fun, or for any other reasons. It makes people feel big and strong, killing another animal. But it just hurts the animal, it hurts the environment, and it hurts all natural balance. It's not like whales or dolphins would start shooting us with harpoons or guns! SAVE THE CARNIVORES!

We should never do this.. Only when it become essential, should we kill these animals and that only happens when they begin hunting us. Otherwise we throw off the balance that God has made... Who among us is SMARTER than GOD!

There has to be a better way to balance the wildlife population-this way is totally inhumane. More preserve land needs to be set aside instead of developing for suburbanites. Humans have done enuf damage to our wildlife. Humans also do not live in harmony of any of the gifts we have of land/the planet-our species are the most barbaric and destructive life forms that have ever existed; all the while, as seen in this destructive act, never go about anything fairly.

Please, think just a minute to this, to what have you done. And think just a minute to us, the people who love wildlife and fight for the animal welfare. Please do this.
