Free Anthony!
Anthony Addison was convicted for drug trafficking in spring 1993. Without evidence or a fair trial he was thrown behind bars. For over 12 years now he has managed to survive the everyday struggle in Bangkwang Prison of Thailand, cynically called the Bangkok Hilton.
No other foreigner is locked up for as long as he has been in lockup now. Most countries have a treaty with the Thai government. This means they are extradited after 8 years back to their homeland. Not Anthony.
It is truly a miracle he has survived this far. The basis of his survival is also the reason I ask you to sign this petition. Anthony has the most positive view on life one can have, either inside or outside prison. Everyday he works out, running, lifting weights. He keeps his body fit which helps him keep his mind clean. He runs a class of over 30 students, fellow prisoners, and teaches them English. He is the head of the Christian community inside the prison, giving inmates hope and teaching them moral values.
Anthony is busy writing a book telling his life story. Anthony is an amazing guy who deserves freedom after suffering for so long.
His everyday life consists of 16 hours in his crammed cell. 28 people on a big concrete bed of 25 square meters and a hole serving as toilet. Available water comes from the river and his daily menu is brown rice porridge with fish heads. Corrupt correctional officers will increase your suffering unless you have some money.
No one else helps Anthony, so I will. Help me help Anthony. Sign the petition and I will send it to His Royal Highness The King of Thailand.
