Tell Mammut and The North Face to Detox and Stop Using Toxic Chemicals

High performance outdoor gear is a big business which is built around the idea of respecting nature. Yet Mammut and The North Face knowingly release dangerous chemicals into the environment when they manufacture their products.

Greenpeace tested Mammut and The North Face products and found PFCs — hazardous chemicals used to make outdoor gear waterproof and dirt resistant. Researchers are finding serious health concerns about PFCs, including increased risk of some cancers. Once released into the environment, PFCs persist for many years and future generations will continue to be exposed to contaminated water, air and food.

PFC-free gear already exists! Safer, more sustainable water-proofing membranes and treatments are possible — so The North Face and Mammut have no excuse to keep using PFCs.

Hikers, athletes, nature lovers: Tell the CEOs of Mammut and The North Face to walk their outdoor talk and stop using toxic chemicals.
Dear CEO,

I love your brand, and I love the outdoors. But I don't want to buy products that are endangering our environment and our health.

The gear that you produce is polluting our planet. Greenpeace has found PFCs in lots of the outdoor gear you manufacture.

Hazardous PFCs have been found around the world: from remote mountaintops to human blood. Studies indicate that some PFCs can impact hormone and immune systems and reproductive health, while others have potential to cause cancer.

This needs to stop. I don't want them in my outdoor gear anymore, polluting the environment and putting our health at risk.

We can do something about this. There ARE alternatives out there. So it's time to switch. I'm asking you to commit to #Detox and go PFC-free. Now.
