My body, my future. Stand with Sophie for improved sexual health education and services in Uganda

In Uganda, 1 in 4 teenage girls are either pregnant or already have had their first child. Girls and young women in Uganda don't have access to the information and services needed to help them choose when they become mothers.

Sophie is campaigning for change with Plan International UK: "By the time I left primary school at the age of 13, ten of my classmates were already pregnant. I realised, if a woman is not informed, she is not empowered."

On the 24 March, Sophie and a group of other young campaigners from Uganda, all supported by Plan International, will meet with members of their national Parliament. They'll demand better sexual health education and information for young people like themselves.

Stand in solidarity with Sophie and brave girls in Uganda like her - add your name to their petition. Every signature counts.

I stand in solidarity with young campaigners in Uganda to give girls a real choice over when they become mothers. I support their campaign for better sexual health services and information for young people – in particular by:

  • Increasing funding for adolescent health in the upcoming national budget

  • Establishing adolescent friendly service delivery points

  • Training health workers equipping them with professional skills necessary to work with young people
