Take Action to Save Maryland's Food Supply, Farms, and Waterways

Maryland's farm policies aren't working. Agricultural polluters in Maryland too often fail to clean up after themselves – and as a result, we all end up on the losing side.

It's time to fix Maryland's unfair and unsustainable system by requiring agricultural polluters to take responsibility for their pollution – just as other industries do.

Fair Farms Maryland is building a movement of Marylanders working together for a new food system — one that is fair to farmers, invests in homegrown healthy foods, and restores our waterways instead of polluting them.

We're taking action to reduce agricultural pollution while  supporting farmers, businesses and public policies that promote healthy, sustainable agricultural practices.

Farmers want clean water and a healthy environment for their families as much as anyone. Smart farmers know that sustainable farming is more than just a buzzword. It means practices that protect waterways from runoff pollution, reduce over-reliance on antibiotics in animals, raise food without harmful pesticides, and provide wholesome, local food to our communities.

Sign your name today to stand up for practices that protect our natural environment and our waterways, and safeguard the health and welfare of farmers, farm animals, and the public.

To whom it may concern,

Maryland families and farmers want healthy, delicious, affordable local food, grown responsibly. Installing a fair system – one that rewards good stewardship and sustainable practices – is the best way to achieve this.

The current system simply isn't fair. Agricultural polluters in Maryland too often fail to clean up after themselves – and as a result, we all end up on the losing side.

It's time to fix Maryland’s unfair and unsustainable system by requiring agricultural polluters to take responsibility for their pollution – just as other industries do.

We must eliminate the practice of routinely giving human antibiotics to animals that are not sick—before it's too late. Antibiotics are made to help us heal, but overuse speeds up the creation of resistant bacteria.

Fair Farms also supports legislation – called the Poultry Litter Management Act - that would shift the burden of responsible manure disposal from the individual farmers to the large agricultural companies who own and control the chickens that produce the waste.

We urge you to support our legislative agenda: To stop the routine overuse of antibiotics in farm animals and to support the Poultry Litter Management Act.

Stand up for Fair Farms Maryland.
