Children in Darfur Need a Future - Join the Virtual March!

Sponsored by: US Fund for UNICEF
After nearly three years of conflict and tens of thousands of deaths, Darfur is one of the hardest places in the world to be a child.

Every day over 70 children under the age of five are dying across Darfur. One million others seek refuge in temporary camps, where they struggle with disease, malnutrition, violence and rape.

While the long-term prospects of Darfur's children appear bleak, we can work together to push for a lasting solution in the region.

UNICEF Ambassador Lucy Liu has committed to speak out for Darfur's children and asks us to join her!

We cannot stay silent about the devastation in Darfur. It's time for people across the nation to stand up and be counted in the growing movement of citizens joining together to support the children in Darfur.

Sign the pledge to join the virtual march, and pass it on to everyone you know. All of your friends and family can be part of the march too!

deadline: 8-16-2008

Almost 2 million children have been affected by the ongoing crisis in Darfur, some of them displaced multiple times through repeated attacks. The impact of violence, disease, malnutrition and dependency is leaving a mark on this generation of children, weakening their capacity and trapping them in the cycle of poverty.

I pledge to join the virtual march to protect the children of Darfur. By joining the growing movement, I will be part of the momentum of concerned citizens speaking out against the bleak reality in Darfur and supporting humanitarian efforts. Children in Darfur need to have hope and renewed dreams for the future.

if my life were different, and i did not have 3 small children and a husband, i would be there to help UNICEF. what the workers are doing is saving lives, lives of innocent children. their plight and sorrow is in my heart often and i will pray for strength of leadership and safety for all the workers risking their lives to help those held in hostage in Darfur. God bless you all.
