Recently, a group has set up a grand web site in support of Senator Barack Obama under the title "Tamils for Obama". Overall, it was an extremely racist website not worthy of being affiliated to the Obama campaign. It never recognized the fact that not only Tamils but also Sinhalese and Muslims have been victims of the war in Sri Lanka. It talked only about a genocide on Tamils, but failed to recognize that a large number of Sinhalese villages that were in the Tamil areas in the North and the East of Sri Lanka have been completely wiped out by the LTTE.
We the undersigned understand that a terrorist organization by the name The Black Tigers known as the LTTE has launched a grand web site in support of your campaign for the presidency under the title "Tamils for Obama" only for the sole purpose of promoting their own interest to destabilize the government of Sri Lanka.
The Black Tigers are suicide carders of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which is proscribed as a foreign terrorist organization by 32 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, India and the EU. Furthermore, the Black Tigers are acknowledged as one of the most lethal and ruthless suicide terrorist groups in the world, and their victims include former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Sri Lankan President Ranasinghe Premadasa.
Ms Jan Goodwin of Marie Claire magazine interviewed an LTTE female suicide bomber in 2007, and says, %u201CThe suicide-bomber vest was the brainchild of Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers%u201D the design has since been used by Hezbollah, Hamas, and reportedly al Qaeda, and its murderous effects are felt daily in Iraq that we need not emphasize here the heavy carnage of U.S. soldiers through suicide bombing in Iraq and Afghanistan in the recent past.
Even though the freedom of expression is enshrined as a First Amendment right in the U.S. Constitution, and even though the LTTE is a non-Islamic terrorist group, giving publicity to Black Tiger suicide bombing in the U.S. will indeed have adverse impact on the U.S, as it will allow copy cat terrorist groups to imitate the methodology, and kill U.S. soldiers in Iraq and elsewhere. Thus, in the name of humanity, we caution Senator Obama to treat such childish attempts by the LTTE front organizations in the US with care. They cautiously monitored the trends in the presidential campaign to launch their traditional opportunistic propaganda campaign in the most disgraceful manner to all Tamils.
