Save the Willis House
Hae Sook Lee Chung is a 70 year old representative from South Korea. She has made it her mission to save the historic Willis House off of state route 315. The house is gorgeous but needs 1.2 million dollars to repair and renovate. Hae Sook has moved into the house in order to protect the historic mark from the vandalism that occurs almost nightly. The house has no running water or heating/cooling but she has her mind set on saving this house. She is asking for 1,000 signatures in order to get the help needed to renovate the house. The house was built in 1884 and was owned by Frank B. Willis, a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, a governor of Ohio, and a U.S senator. She sees this house not only as an opportunity to save a great piece of history and a beautiful building, but also as a chance to strengthen the ties between the Korean and American communities in Columbus. Upon completion the house will be open for the public to enjoy and use the historic 12 acre plot and the mansion that sits on it.
