Urge Congress to Protect the Endangered Species Act

The Endangered Species Act has a proven track record of success in providing a safety net that protects our most vulnerable wildlife, like the Yuma Ridgway's Rail. It has prevented 99 percent of the species under its care from going extinct, including by helping to recover America's symbol, the Bald Eagle. We should allow this critical law to continue to protect wildlife for future generations, not undermine it.

Please ask your members of Congress to stand up for the Endangered Species Act.
Dear Representative/Senator:

As a constituent who cares deeply about America's wildlife, I strongly urge you to protect the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and ensure it remains a bedrock safety net for birds and other wildlife.

As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ESA, we are still facing ongoing biodiversity declines, including recent news that we have lost three billion North American birds in the last 50 years, so it is critical that the ESA can continue to be able to prevent extinctions and help recover endangered species.

The ESA works. This highly successful safeguard for wildlife has saved more than 99 percent of the species listed from going extinct. It has brought back birds such as the Bald Eagle, Brown Pelican, and Peregrine Falcon from the brink of extinction. It also helps to spur important, collaborative conservation efforts that prevent species from becoming so endangered that they require ESA protection.

In fact, 90 percent of voters support the ESA. Any attempt to undermine the law will have harmful consequences for vulnerable birds and other wildlife that matter to me and the vast majority of Americans.

We have a shared moral responsibility to prevent extinction for current and future generations. Please protect the Endangered Species Act by opposing any effort to weaken this vital law, and supporting additional resources to benefit the species it protects.

Sincerely,

[your name]
