On behalf of Lacey, please consider signing and forwarding this petition.

Mr. Robert Gonzales has been arrested and charged with animal abuse after Lacey , a seven-pound mixed-breed dog, was discovered tied in his yard.  She had been beaten with a golf club and had bleach sprayed in her face and eyes and left tied to suffer for days.   Mr. Gonzales currently has a restraining order filed against him for domestic violence.

Please consider sending a letter to the Bakersfield Police Department asking for thorough investigation of this crime and to the Kern County District Attorney's office for rigorous prosecution as felony animal abuse.  This crime and other acts of violence against animals  must be taken seriously by law enforcement.

Please send correspondence to the following:

Kern County Animal Control has secured a rescue home for rehabilitation for Lacey once she has been released from veterinary care and Friends of the Kern County Animal Shelters Foundation has graciously stepped in to accept donations.  Friends will be happy to collect funds for care of Lacey, stated FKCASF President Judi Daunell.

If the public would like to donate to help cover the cost of Lacey's care, checks can be made out to Friends Foundation or FKCASF with Lacey in the memo line and mailed to:
 P.O. Box 11494
 Bakersfield, CA 93389
They can also go to Friends' website: http://www.friendsofkernshelters.org/ and utilize the button on the front page to donate using PayPal.  They will need to write Lacey in the notes box when they make the donation.  Money remaining after Lacey's expenses are paid will be put into a fund for treatment of abused animals.
We, the undersigned request a thorough investigation of the acts of abuse committed against Lacey.  We request on Lacey's behalf that the perpetrator of this heinous crime be held to answer for his actions.

Such abuse should not be tolerated nor condoned by allowing such an act of violence to go unpunished, or minimally punished.  We ask that once a complete investigation has been completed, prosecution for felony animal abuse under Penal Code Section 597 be instituted.

As outlined in a 2006 National District Attorney's Association:  The well-established link between animal cruelty and serial killers, violent criminals, young killers,

domestic violence, spouse/partner, child, and elder abuse should prompt law enforcement officials to take reports of animal cruelty seriously.

On behalf of Lacey, we ask you do all you can to bring her tormenter and abuser to justice.
