We the undersigned do rspectfully request the NFL remove the cease and desist order on New Orleans businesses prohibiting them from selling or marketing merchandise with the saying "Who Dat?"
History is in the making. The New Orleans Saints will play in their First Super Bowl ever. It's about time New Orleans , "The city that care forgot" caught a break. Call it skill, talent, coaching, endurance, anyway you stir this pot of gumbo they have made it. The people of NEW Orleans suffered the most catastrophic natural disaster when Katrina struck.
Many people did not believe the city could ever be rebuilt. Well, the City of New Orleans never lost faith or hope. Louisiana stood proud and with the help of so many kind and generous people from all parts of the country; we rebuilt and improved. We are the come back team; the come from behind team-in football & in life. We are proud. The N.F.C. Championship win over the Vikings symbolizes the rebirth of New Orleans.
How can the NFL claim to own the saying "Who Dat?" It originated in New Orleans and belongs to the people of New Orleans. Ironically, I don't remember the NFL ever trying to cash in on a former phrase of ours "The Aints" They are not taking over the revenue generated to Chicago business owners for merchandise that reads "Da Bears" or the former Cleveland Browns "the dog pound" I'm sure each team has its own song, dance, saying, chant, cheer, etc.
Leave the people of New Orleans alone. They have suffered enough. Why begrudge the struggling businesses the income that they can FINALLY PROFIT FROM, A SAINT'S CHEER.
Help us continue to rebuild. Don't take away ANY source of legitimate income we can derive. I ask you all to join me in signing this petition , not started by me. I saw it and I want to do all I can to promote it.
Thank you, God Bless & "Who Dat talking bout beating dim Saints; Who Dat?"
