The new Lions Park at Long Jetty (opposite the Rocket Park) has a serious Redback infestation. Everytime i visit I go around with a stick squishing big ones from under the kids play equipment. Council has sprayed but the problem is they are nesting in huge numbers in the holes under the fence posts; every year they migrate looking for new nests. Action needs to be taken before a life is lost.

Dear Mr Thompson/ decision maker,

Please take immediate action to warn parents and carers about the danger of redbacks at the new lions park at Long Jetty.
This is a serious Redback infestation. Everytime i visit I go around with a stick squishing big ones from under the kids play equipment. Council has sprayed but the problem is they are nesting in huge numbers in the holes under the fence posts; every year they migrate looking for new nests. Action needs to be taken before a life is lost.

Please consider taking the following actions immediately:

1# A sign placed up with clear picture to warn parents to check the play equipment before they allow their child to use it.

2# Spraying of the area, also with a barrier spray and especially around the fence

3# Please contract someone to fill the ends of the hollow fence with concrete/ gapfiller to prevent the spiders nesting there again.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this letter.

Sincerely depending on your urgent response,
From Long Jetty locals, residents and visitors of the Central Coast.
