Dine' Water Rights

Please vote against the Navajo Water Settlement resolution which is on the September 29, 2010 special session agenda. It is outrageous and a violation of our human rights to settle for ONLY 31,000 acre feet of the lower Colorado River basin when we have the right to at least 5 million acre-feet per year of the Colorado River water, and perhaps millions more, because our ancestors were the first inhabitants of the river bank. Please do not put your people, their livestock and fields, but most importantly, the lives of future generations in jeopardy.
Dear Honorable Delegate,   I implore, please vote against the Navajo Water Settlement resolution which is on the September 29, 2010 special session agenda. Gila River tribe with a small population of 14,000 won a settlement of 600,000 acre feet in 2005.    Navajo Nation is near 300,000 in population and growing--yet Pollack, Water Commission, Louis Denetsosie, Joe Shirley, the Resources Committee, and IGR are settling for only 31,000 acre feet! Something is very wrong with this picture. Stanley Pollack must be removed. He has weakened Navajo and their rights to water far too long. %u2028The Water Commission publicly states the Western and Southwestern Navajo communities will be replenished with water - that is a guise. Actually, the only beneficiaries are border towns like Flagstaff %u2013 who plans to desecrate our sacred mountain, Dook%u2019o%u2019osliid using sewer water to make fake snow for business purposes, and we want to reward them by giving them some of our water.    Standing up for your Navajo people could be a historic move for which you can be long remembered, so PLEASE VOTE NO.   Ahe'hee
