Killed in the name of "Art"

PLEASE HELP STOP HIM. ...THIS IS A TRUE STORY...PLEASE TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY & WORK MATES ABOUT THIS SICK ACT & PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN THIS YEAR!

http://www.petitiononline.com/ea6gk/petition.html

In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death.

For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition have watched emotionless the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died. Note: He paid five local children to help him catch the terrified stray dog...in the impoverished area.  The dog had no way to escape capture or his fate once he was in the hands of this cruel maniac.

What makes this even worse is the dog was left to die with food just beyond the length of its leash (with the so-called artists logo spelt out in DOGFOOD BISCUITS) as patrons passed by in the gallery

PLEASE NOTE: There are more sickening sights of this poor dogs phlight on the internet but they are just so disturbing i couldnt bring myself to post them, they are VERY upsetting...please see: youtube.com - just type in the 'artist' name to view the disgusting video of this poor dogs phlight....

But this is not all... the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American  decided that the 'installation' was actually art, so that Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008.

Please take a moment of your time and sign the MAIN petition below which is the initial sponser of this petition, with over 1/2 a million signatures now - Its now nearly the end of April 2008....hopefully he will be stopped from exhibiting this year if we get enough signatures!:

At this point, we feel the most effective method of protest is to write local animal protection agencies demanding they put a stop to this exhibit. You can search for agencies here in the Latin America/Caribbean section http://worldanimalnet..org/new.asp?co=&geo=SA&prov=&cat=are

But its not just this sicko ..... Read on.....

A dog is tied up in a gallery, deprived of any food or water and left to die. A photographer cuts and pastes animal heads on other objects digitally, but bizarrely, only after she has killed them. Another artist records video clips of six animals being clubbed to death by sledgehammer.

This is irritating moral territory, one doesnt want to provide artists and their sponsors publicity for work thats of no artistic value, but if the exhibitions are ignored there is a tacit acceptance of them.

Therefore its necessary to identify that the dog was captured, tied up and exhibited to die by Guillermo Habacuc Vargas; that the woman who finds it necessary to kill various animals before photoshopping them is Nathalia Edenmont; and that its Adel Abdessemed, as announced in this publications news last week, whose exhibit includes videos of animals being clubbed to death.

artist and David Zwirner Gallery.

The argument has been made that these kinds of exhibit are justified if they challenge our sensibilities or confront our social, political and cultural norms. This is undoubtedly true and is sometimes valid. There is a case for shocking people so that an artist can intercede a new slant on some situation, directly or obliquely. But this can be done, and has been done, very effectively and many times, without having to kill anything anew. There is plenty of death out there to work with..........These SICKOS also need to be dealt with!...They cant be allowed to make money out of killing animals for ARTS SAKE!

We the undersigned are outraged at the following and demand it be stopped in ALL 'ART' Galleries worldwide;

Amid controversy, the Costa Rican Biennial Visual Arts (Bienarte) 2007 opened last night strict and small selection of works and awards to six artists with the pass to represent the country in the 2008 Biennial Central Honduras.

Artists winners in this sixth edition of the prestigious appointment of contemporary art were Errol Barrantes, Habakkuk Guillermo Vargas, Oscar Figueroa, Mimiam Hsu, Stephen Stone and "The gang of submerged-emerging" (Sila Chanto and Jhafis Quintero).

The jury, composed of Ana Sokoloff (Colombia), Oliver Debroise (Mexico) and Rodolfo Kronfle Chambers (Ecuador), chosen based on works of high quality and excellent consistency between idea and execution, as described.
la Bienarte es organizada por los Empresarios por el Arte. Bienarte is organized by the Operators of Art.

******************

Uno de los "artistas", Guillermo Habacuc Vargas 'art' led to the death of a dog by starvation during the event.

It is unacceptable that in this way trample the rights of animals and that the "artist"  had collected the dog from the street to be left to die tied with a rope to the wall of the gallery when he had the opportunity to not do it or even save it.

-----------------

Theres nothing we can do for this dog now but the organizers of the 2008 Biennial Central Honduras does not admit to this "artist" being abusive to animals.

We ask you to listen to this request and to disseminate as much as possible this shameful act and to collect signatures and a maximum veto in the biennial.

Thank you very much
