Reinstate the FL High School Graduation Requirement

Help our Connecticut State Representatives understand the importance of a foreign language high school graduation requirement for all of Connecticut's children. A graduation requirement is vital for our state's economy and our children's future! Please sign our petition and include your personal story.
We, the undersigned, as educators and supporters of world language instruction, do petition the Connecticut General Assembly to reinstate a high school graduation requirement of 2.0 credits for world language study as originally proposed in A Superior Education for Connecticut's 21st Century Learners: Five-Year Comprehensive Plan for Education 2006-2011. In today's interdependent global economy and our current economic crisis, companies will look elsewhere to conduct business and hire workers if our students do not have the skills to compete and collaborate with people from around the world. Learning another language places our students on the fast track to working effectively with people from other cultures. A high school foreign language requirement would help put our citizens and our state back on the road to long-term economic prosperity. For further information, please go to: Languages for Life! We hope we can count on your support. Thank you for your time and attention.
