Oil is Not the Answer

It is time to abandon fossil fuels as a realistic resource for this country. There are many sustainable alternatives, the development of which would create domestic employment opportunities in addition to the obvious other benefits. The level of influence over our lawmakers that the oil industry wields through its political contributions and lobbying efforts has done enough damage by delaying the acceptance of the warning bell that global climate change has sounded.

The products of this industry are largely responsible for global warming. Still, the oil industry continues to foster and create doubt and skepticism over the scientific facts.  The subsidies that these greedy corporations receive should be re-directed to sustainable energy and petro-chemical corporations should be prohibited from absorbing them through deceptive marketing campaigns that claim to support alternative fuels.

Please reconsider your position on your acceptance of campaign donations and your relationships with petrochemical lobbyists. These are unpatriotic corporate entities whose agenda is to destroy any real progress toward any type of sustainable energy policy. To allow their continued influence over your vote as a U. S. lawmaker is to write your name in the history books as an elitist, obstructionist lawmaker with little or no foresight for the future of our nation in this planet.
