Following the works of urban arrangements undertaken by the City Hall of Tomar at the northern surrounding of the Immemorial Set – World Heritage – of Tomar, the XII Century north alambor of the Templar Castle of Tomar was destroyed; a unique mark in the world of the XII Century medieval military architecture. The stones, with almost 900 years, were removed and transported to a vacant lot behind the Convent of Christ, where they are abandoned and unprotected, likely to be stolen.
Was also initiated, at the present, a construction of a concrete 5m wall.
The identified undersigned citizens, hereby, request Yours Excellencies as to promote the reconstruction and reinstatement of the stones removed, according to the best practices in restoration and conservation of medieval military architecture of the XII century, with special consideration to its uniqueness.
Ensuring its recovery, maintenance and long-term sustainability.
