Remembering the Busby Babes

Manchester United have decided to allow AIG corporate branding alongside the wonderful Busby Babes picture that has been put up on the front of the East Stand at Old Trafford in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster. We, the undersigned, think it is appalling that AIG is trying to gain a commercial advantage by associating its logo with the anniversary of the tragedy, and believe this will only prove to be very bad P.R. for the company. We urge you to remove the logo as soon as possible in respect for those who lost their lives at Munich.

This terrible tragedy remains with all generations of United fans, and to see the logo of a sponsor who has nothing to do with Munich or our history causes further distance between ourselves and our club. We are disappointed with the club that they would use sponsors to highlight and publicise the Munich anniversary.

We as fans are asking the club to remove all sponsor branding, and ensure that no companies cash in on the 50th anniversary of Munich, which should be the sole preserve of the club, the fans and the families of those who perished and survived.
