Save the Dune Fan Film by Mediteatro

Some of you may already know that a Spanish amateur crew of filmmakers was in the process of making a new version of the first three novels of Frank Herbert's Dune saga (DUNE, MUADDIB & THE PROPHET) The project is a fan film with non-commercial purposes wich has been made without financing from any institution or company. It is almost finished, and there will be three long-length films. Unfortunately, the trailer of this fan film, which was previously posted on YouTube, has been pulled and made unavailable - citing copyright claim by Herbert Properties, LLC.  Furthermore, the entire movie project has now been cancelled, for the same reason stated above. We, the united, orthodox Herbertarian movie fans, ask that HLP reconsider their hasty decision and allow this trilogy to see the light of WWW.
We, the undersigned Dune Fans, respectfully ask that the Herbert Properties Limited RECONSIDER their stance on the cancellation of the Dune trilogy Fan Film, created by Mediteatro Producciones Audiovisuales.  We ask that all Dune and science fiction fans who support this noble endeavor make your voice heard and put your signature to this petition - as a sign of solidarity and acknowledgment of all the hard work and self-sacrifice made on behalf of the 150 Spanish Dune fans.

Thus far, the movie has been cancelled, due to a copyright claim by Herbert Properties, LLC. Some of us were fortunate to view the trailer of this film, before it was pulled from YouTube. All of us who have been lucky enough to see it, were extremely saddened, disappointed and frustrated at HLP's decision to have it removed and the movie project cancelled.

With all due respect, we ask that the Herbert Partnership re-evaluates its decision and allows the Dune fan trilogy to see the light of day. All we ask, is a fair consideration -  and a fair recognition of all the selfless and noble efforts of the fans, to bring this tribute to their beloved author, Frank Herbert, to life.  Thank you for taking your time to read and consider this petition.
