Save the Mute Swan...

Many people think Mute Swans are majestic and beautiful.  But the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment believes Mute Swans are a pest...

The Natural Resources Commission has voted 3-2 in favor of an order that prohibits the release of Mute Swans into the wild within the state of Michigan. What that means, is anyone who has a mute swan in captivity, or is rehabilitating them for any reason, they will not be able to let them go. Unless the individuals or organizations choose to keep the swans, there is really only one other option: euthanization.

Out of the state's estimated 15,000 Mute Swans, the DNRE has a plan to kill 13,000.  This plan has been in the works for a while, but it came to a head in Lansing on Thursday, with a Natural Resources Commission vote that would allow the DNRE to kill off nearly 90 percent of the state's Mute Swan population.

This is 100% OVERKILL there is nothing more to be said about and it has to be stopped I don't know what else what I can say, Swans are a very large part of my faith as we see them as part of the Valkyrie... in the UK it is illegal to harm or kill a Swan and Illegal to put down any healthy animal yet Michigan it seems will kill anything healthy or not and it has to stop now.... Pass it on to anyone and every one get the word out. I thank you all. With respect always James Howie... Fight the good fight.
