Senator Feinstein, Take Social Security Off the Chopping Block!

Tell Senator Feinstein to Take Social Security OFF the Chopping Block

Support the Social Security Protection Act of 2011

Social Security is one of our country's greatest, most effective, and most popular programs.  Despite fear-mongering to the contrary, Social Security is currently running a surplus and is solvent for decades to come.  It has not contributed one cent to the nation's deficit and should be OFF the table as a bargaining chip in talks about the budget deficit and federal spending.

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has introduced a bill called the Social Security Protection Act of 2011. The bill would take Social Security off the chopping block by requiring a 2/3 super majority to reduce benefits, raise the retirement age or privatize the program.  Senator Barbara Boxer was one of the original co-sponsors of this bill. Senator Feinstein is not. We need her to sign on in support of this most important legislation.

Here is How You Can Help Save Social Security.

Please sign this letter and share your story about why Social Security is important to you.

Dear Senator Feinstein:  We are writing this brief letter to tell you what Social Security means to me and my family.  I am counting on you to support the Social Security Protection Act of 2011 to make sure that Social Security will be here for generations to come.
