STOP James Island Fire Department Budget Cuts!

The James Island Public Service District Commission has proposed a $273,000 budget cut from the James Island Fire Department's Operating Budget!!

If you are as angry as I am about this ludicrous proposal, help me put a stop to it by signing the petition ! According to the letter from the FD that I got today, with a tax increase of only $11.50 for a $200,000 home, this budget cut can be eliminated. I think this is a reasonable price to pay for our safety and the safety of our fire fighters, don't you think? Let's tell the James Island PSD Commission that we adamantly oppose this budget cut! Let's remind them why James Island is the BEST place (and one of the SAFEST) places to live in Charleston!! THANK YOU TO ALL FIRE FIGHTERS EVERYWHERE FOR THE BRAVE AND SELFLESS ACTS YOU DO EVERYDAY!

- $65,000 from the overtime budget leaving trucks short staffed
- $9,036 from medical supplies leaving only $2000 to fund the 1200 medical emergencies the FD responds to every year
- $20,000 from personal protective gear for fire fighters
- $16,000 from the uniform budget which will prevent the move to NFPA compliant uniforms
- $15,000 from the training budget of fire fighters
- $3,500 from fire prevention education in schools!

Respectfully ask that the proposal to cut $273,000 from the operating budget of the James Island Fire Departments be eliminated! Protecting our homes and families from fires and other emergencies is of the utmost importance, as is protecting our hard-working fire fighters from the dangerous work they do everyday! As residents of James Island yourselves, please think of how this budget cut will affect us all and put a stop to it!
Thank you for all the hard work you do to make James Island one of the BEST places to live in Charleston!! Please make the right decision so it can still be one of the safest!
