STOP 'The Crow' From BEING RE-MADE

15 years ago, The Crow was filmed and when released became an instant cult classic. Actor Brandon Lee lost his life doing this film, in a role that has now become his signature film. The plans by Director Stephen Norrington to re-make the original film, using the same storyline, the name of the character (Eric's surname Draven was created for the original film), and most likely the same themes, visions and everything else, has angered many fans. Fans worldwide of this film, comic and franchise have voiced their dismay to us, and we issue this petition on behalf of the fans, asking the creators to not re-make the film.
As it has been described by the potential filmmakers, the motives appear to be ones of greed and artistic ignorance. Trying to change both the feel and look of the original comic should also be protested against. Fans do not want this vision from Mr Norrington, and  fans will NOT pay one cent to see such displays of exploitation.

After several failed attempts at trying to re-invent The Crow franchise, Edward R. Pressman has now decided that trying to re-create the magic of the first film will be enough to draw in profit. The fans have expressed a desire that they do not want this film to be made. The original film has stood the test of time, and forever should be left alone to stand as a lasting memorial to a man who gave his life for this film.

There are several alternatives the filmmakers could use, one of those is a literal translation of the graphic novel, which could use the character of "Eric" from the comic and not "Eric Draven" from the film. The other possibility would be to use as the basis for the film, the character of "Iris Shaw", which crow fans have asked for over many years. By using a new character, or going back to the comic, the filmmakers will be making full use of originality in their work, and the loyal fans would be behind the project enough to support something new. Dressing up Eric Draven in new make up, in a new city will not disguise that it will only be a cheapen reproduction of the original if attempted. Brandon's memory and the hard work of all those associated with the original film, and James O'Barr's hard work deserve much better.

Don't cheapen the memory for so many fans and show some respect AND empathy towards both Mr Lee's legacy and to the loyal fans who made your opportunities possible.
Thank you!
