WE NEED TO CHANGE THE YOUTH CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT (YOUNG OFFENDERS ACT)

Isn't it funny how kids legally can consent to sex at 14 but are protected by the law for crimes they commit until they are 18?  And their record is wiped clean after the age of 18?  Kids these days are getting away with murder in Canada.  Unfortunately for everyone, people are not to be held responsible for their crimes until they are old enough to vote in this country.  Most people would agree that a 16 year old knows the difference between right and wrong. 

When these youth are let off time and time again with just probation and community service hours, they laugh on their way out of court and go right back to it.  Probation is not the answer.  These kids need to be penalized and not "let off" for crimes.  This just allows them to continue on knowing that this will be the outcome until they reach the age of 18.

Please help me do something about this harmful act.  The idea is that by 16 these kids should be treated as adults.  If they commit a crime, they should be put in jail the same as an adult.  If they aren't held accountable for their actions and their are no consequences it will get worse.  Thanks for the support - tell everyone you know to sign it too.  The squeaky wheel gets the grease.  I will fight it all the way to Ottawa.  Remember it is only Canadian Residents that can sign this petition.
