Sesame Street: Bring Back the Yip Yips

Bringing Yip Yips back!
We, the undersigned, hereby respectfully ask that you consider bringing the Yip Yips back to Sesame Street.

With its lovable cast of characters and incredible mix of fun-meets-education, Sesame Street has left its indelible mark on generations of Americans.  Childhood and Sesame Street have become so synonymous that it is impossible to think of one and not think of the other.

Like me, many of the undersigned who grew up on Sesame Street now have children of their own, and have had the opportunity to rediscover the wonders of Sesame Street.  We've been amazed by the updated features and characters, and warmed by the fact that the show has maintained its core values.  It has been equally amazing to see again the characters from our youth: Cookie Monster! The Count! Grover! Big Bird! Oscar the Grouch! Snuffy! Wow...even Gordon!?!

But a few characters are conspicuously absent.  Where are the Yip Yips?

For the reasons below, and the further reasons described on this blog, we  ask that Sesame Street bring back the Yip Yips:

- they are adorable
- they are funny
- they are hip
- they, like the toddlers who watch Sesame Street, are new to Earth and are trying to figure out all these new and strange objects
- our children are mesmerized by (and laugh hysterically at) the few Yip Yips clips we have found on Sesame Street

So, on behalf of nostalgic Generation X and Y parents, we beg, plead -- and hereby formally petition -- for you, beloved Sesame Street, to bring the Yip Yips back to the show. The new generation of Sesame Street viewers deserve to have wonderful Yip Yip memories, too.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
