Deficit Reduction starts with Congressional Salaries Cut 20%

It's time to call for reform of the Congressional Compensation Plan. Currently, Congressional members have increased their salary by 16% this year. Over half have become millionaires in the worst recession since the great depression.  Congress has not had to sacrifice, they have not felt the pain of the poor or middle class. How can these men and women lead the American people if they have not experienced the devastation of unemployment, lower salaries and no healthcare?

Millions of Americans are out of work, losing their homes and have no healthcare. Congress has not suffered any ill effects from the worst recession since the Great Depression. In fact, their salaries have increased by 16% and over half have become millionaires. John Boenher is set to receive a $30,000 a years increase in salary. That $30,000 could pay for a family of four for one year.  It's time Congress led by example. Tell Congress they must take a 20% reduction in salary, set forth a two year moratorium on raises and pay an additonal 20% of their health care costs. It starts here, it starts now America.
