Now in my neighborhood and many other in central florida, the 4th of July and New Years are no longer holidays to enjoy. Instead people are huddled in their homes, trying to console their terrified animals, unable to enjoy their holiday, while being bombarderd for hours and hours because a select few, usually drunk, continue to shoot off illegal fireworks. The smoke is so thick you cant see or even breathe. Its like a LITERAL warzone. I wonder if it was happening outside the lawmakers homes, just how quickly things would change.
Law enforcement has given up, as frustrated as they are, because the legislature refuses to close the loopholes. It doesnt end there either. It can last for weeks before and weeks after the 'holiday'.
What happened to GOING with your family to enjoy a display? Not in Brevard County.
Lets consider the animals being scared to death and being lost, the litter everywhere which is not picked up, the violation of the noise (Brevard County has a 24/7 noise ordinance) and fireworks display ordinances and the obvious distress to our veterans with PTSD, the elderly with dementia, and those with autism and anxiety disorders. I have tried to contact my former county commissioner and was ignored. The newest one is not only ignoring my emails, he deleted my questions on Facebook. Its time we demanded the mayhem stop.
