Let Survivor of Domestic Violence Stay in Australia!

An Indian woman moved to Australia in 2014 with her husband. Her visa hinged on his. That's why things fell apart for her when she gained the courage to leave him because he was verbally and physically abusive. Now the Australian government won't grant her a visa to stay, so on top of the trauma of an abusive relationship, she will be forced to move as well.

Sign the petition to ask the Australian government to let this survivor of domestic abuse stay in Australia and rebuild her life there.

One of the reasons it took her so long to leave the husband is that her immgiration status depended on him. He used this as leverage to manipulate her into staying quiet. Only when the neighbors called the cops and the husband almost strangled her to death did she leave. She's not alone, either. There are many victims of crime and especially domestic abuse who don't feel they can report it for fear of deportation.

That's why Australia must set the precident that victims and survivors are protected there, not punished.

This particular woman had been abused by her husband for many years. He was verbally abusive, physically abusive and even enslaved her by forcing her to work for him for free and never giving her any money to spend. This was a very bad situation and now the victim/survivor is the one who has to leave the country and it's wrong.
