Sub:-   Request For Arranging Disabled - Friendly Polling Booths

Sir,

I, on behalf of Disabled Community of India and our NGO "PAHAL WELFARE SOCEITY", the organization totally dedicated towards empowerment and upliftment of disabled people, irrespective of their caste, creed, age and sex, would like to request you to kindly provide us information regarding the availability of ACCESSIBILTY in Polling Booths for the persons with disabilities in the state/country as directed by honorable Supreme Court of India in its order, so that we can propagate it for the disabled community who will be very much benefited from this arrangement.

Again, I would like to ask whether the polling officers have been instructed to provide necessary help to all these willing disabled voters as directed by honorable Supreme Court of India in this regard.

You are requested to give priority for disabled voters to caste their vote without waiting in the queue with other able electors and are provided other required assistance like wheelchairs and female assistance of blind and totally disabled women voters.

I would also like to draw your attention to the problems faced by wheelchair users and other severely disabled persons in the places where photograph for Voter ID Card is taken as these places are not easily accessible for them.

I would further like to request you to publicize the process of election undertaken in polling booths for persons with disability so that they know whom to contact for further query and assistance.

We will ensure that every polling officer realizes their aspects and in the light of the above argument/appeal, draw detailed plans and guidelines. Now it is up to you to please ensure that disabled voters are not only made aware on it  but are also" encouraged" to go out and vote.

You are also requested to receive it as a petition and enlighten us with your decision and steps taken in this regard.

Hope you will take this appeal to your highest priority.
