Say no to proposed Silver city mask ordinance

The Silver city town council is planning on voting on an ordinance to make it a crime to walk down the street without a mask. We are standing up and saying no. Join us to make your voice heard. Studies have proven that masks do not prevent viruses. Studies have also shown that more people become ill wearing a mask due to: mold forming in the mask, constant breathing of carbon dioxide lowering their O2 levels, and pleurisy (infection of the lining of the lungs) from inhaling bacteria and viruses caught in the mask. There are several physical as well as mental health reasons why some people are unable to wear masks. It is also against your 4th amendment rights. The town has encouraged shaming anyone who is not wearing a mask, all the while reputable doctors, nurse practitioners and other medical people are speaking out against mask mandates. Even Dr. Fauci said that healthy people should not being wearing masks. The narrative at the beginning of this pandemic was to slow (please note it is not to STOP) the spread of it, so not to overwhelm the hospitals. Now the town is saying we have to wear masks to prevent people from getting sick. How long will this be in place? People have getting sick since the beginning of time and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. It is fine to feel that you are justified in making someone wear something to make you comfortable until the tables are turned and you are forced to wear something you don't want to, for someone else's comfort. This ordinance sets a very dangerous precedence. The numbers have fallen enough it is not considered a pandemic anymore, yet the rules are getting more stringent. This issue has divided our community enough. It is a very hostile environment in the town. This has also somehow became a political issue. Enough is enough. Please sign the petition to let the council know we do not support this overreach of the government.
