In the town of San Pedro la Laguna/Solola-Guatemala they poison again the dogs (some cats too!!!).
Streetdogs, familydogs and nursing female dogs they kill in a horrible act of cruelty. In 2018 they started in april and went further until october 2018 some month´s 4 to 7 days some month´s 3 days. Now they started again in the nights to the 7th march 2019 and also 8th march 2019, they killed a lot of dogs who were already spayed or neutered and vaccinated. This doesn´t help to reduce the population its only cruel and heartbroken to the animals and the families/owners and its against the law in Guatemala.
They give the dogs the poison in food, what you can find still sometimes on the streets next day or hours later.......this is also very dangerous for humans, special children.
We ask the municipality of San Pedro la Laguna, the Policia Nacional and the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganaderia (MAGA) to help find the offender of this horrible actions and stop them immediatly. We, the dog owners, already denounced often last year and did it right now too, its against the animalwelfare law in Guatemala, but we never ever got an answer of our police charges. Its enough,..... we dont like to be more quiet about this cruelty actions against the laws. They killed/kill our often knowing and well taking care for streetdogs, our beloved familydogs and they killed/kill nursing females and their not surviving pups. Stop right now the poisoning of our dogs in this lovely village and the beautiful nature of the famous Lake Atitlan.
