20 year old Nicole Ottaiano of Nassau County, Long Island, New York has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals for suffocating a friend’s dog. Ottaiano tied hair ties over the snout of the 11-year-old Staffordshire terrier, effectively cutting off the dog’s airway.
WCBS 880′s Sophia Hall reported she was told by police that Ottaiano has a history of trying to hurt animals.
The owner, who has not been identified, told police that Ottaiano had done the same thing earlier to another of his dogs, a Shepherd mix.
We ask that the owner of the dog also be charged with neglect. If Ottaiano has a history of trying to hurt animals, and has tried to hurt another of the owner's dogs, WHY would such a neglectful owner allow a known abuser access to his animals?
