Re: Close Down Best Breeds Pet Store in Mamaroneck
We, the residents of Westchester County and many concerned dog lovers nationwide are appalled that a new pet store (Best Breeds) at 154 Mamaroneck Ave in Mamaroneck New York has opened. The store may say it sells puppies from respectable breeders but no respectable breeder will allow their dogs to be sold in a pet store. The store is lying and deceiving the good people. 90% or more of these dogs come from puppy mills where dogs live under the most abominable conditions. They subject their females to living in small wire cages, breeding litter after litter, uninterested in her wellbeing or that of her puppies. For more information about the evils of puppy mills you can visit the HSUS or ASPCA web sites.
Furthermore, The Owner of Best Breeds, Richard Doyle was arrested April 25, 2011 by the Dutchess County SPCA, charged with animal cruelty and selling diseased animals at his Wappingers Falls store, Puppies and Kittens. Why would we allow him to open another business in Westchester County?
Cities like Los Angeles, San Diego and Austin have banned the sale of puppies and pet stores and use their storefronts to adopt shelter dogs. Westchester County should follow suit and join them in becoming a more humane community. We would appreciate any help you can give regarding this store. Thank you for your immediate response.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
