Speak Out For Women and Children with HIV/AIDS

Right now, the global HIV/AIDS pandemic is at a political crossroads. While commitments have been made by the U.S. and the world to help women, children, and families in the fight against HIV/AIDS, we have so much left to do to eradicate HIV/AIDS from the globe.

The opportunity for action is now – we have a new Administration, a new Congress, and a new chance to ensure that women, children and families living with HIV/AIDS are not forgotten. With the efforts of you, me, and policymakers on Capitol Hill, we have the power to keep our promise to women and children with HIV/AIDS. Policymakers must take the following five immediate steps to combat HIV/AIDS:

– Fully fund the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR);
– Expand global access for HIV-positive pregnant women to prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) services;
– Increase the percentage of HIV-positive children on medical treatment worldwide;
– Strengthen U.S. commitment to fighting HIV/AIDS at home, including increased funding for the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act; and
– Increase the number of medicines tested and approved for children and support research toward finding a pediatric HIV vaccine.

It is time for renewed leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Help make a difference in the lives of millions of women and children. Sign our petition today.
