It has recently come to my attention that Hwy 16N is much more of a busy road than I ever realized. A few months ago, I opened a resale and consignment shop on Hwy 16N and have witnessed very high speed traffic and numberous accidents (including a lot of near misses!) I have had so many of my customers come into my shop who have the same concerns. My shop is located on the corner of Hwy 16N & River Bend Rd (diagonal from Propst Superette which is on the corner of Hwy 16N & Swinging Bridge Rd). It is a very dangerous intersection coming from both cross streets and for traffic slowing down to turn on either cross street or into the parking lots of the businesses in that area.
My petition is to put a stop light up to slow traffic down to avoid accidents. I would suggest the light be installed at the end of Swinging Bridge Rd due to the limited sight distance at the intersection of River Bend Rd.
My petiotion is based on these facts:
***High traffic ***Improve visability
***Excess speeding ***Safety of motorists
***Business entrances ***Accident prevention
***School bus stops
