Demand an End to the Killeen Utilities Departments Excessive fees and Unreasonable Timelines!

To begin services with Killeen Utility Department you have to pay a deposit, which is understood but why is it more than Harker Hights? After receiving services if you are one day past the due day you are charged $10 late fee (also understood). If you are one week past the due date you are charged an additional $25. This could lead to total of $35 added to your bill. This fee can only be remove if you haven’t had a late payment in the past year. If for whatever reason we’re not aware of the missed bill your door is tagged and you are supposedly given three days befor your water is turned off, in most cases this is not soo and it’s more like 1 day from your return home. If your water is cut off during the hours of 9am to 5pm ( the hours most are working) there is an additional fee of $40 to turn it on plus $35 plus your bill for the after hour turn on. That is $70 in addition fees alone, and only 10 days after your due date. For many that is before a biweekly pay period. This is rediculas! How many people are being charged this much in additional fees? And what is the utility company’s response? If you haven’t been late with in 12 months they will adjust it. If the cost and timeline was reasonable there would be no need for the adjustment. This is obviously not difficult because the city of harker hights gives their residents a reasonable amount of time, and fees. The cities response its ordnance, and how Killeen been doing for years according to Mrs Judy Paradise, administrative assistant of the City Mamagers office. She says it’s needed to pay the city employee, well how does harker nights pay their employees that have to drop off her same notices, with fees that are way less and timelines that are way more reasonable?

Let’s change this city ordinance and give Killeen residents reasonable costing service and timelines. Don’t the resident deserve to be treated reasonably?
