Replace Speed Bumps / Raised Cross Walks with safer Traffic Calming Radar Speed SIgns

The planned renovation of 2700 South between 1300 East and 1900 East includes 7 raised crosswalks / speed bumps as a traffic calming method. These cause accelerated wear to the vehicles using the street, BUT more IMPORTANTLY they cause slower responce times for emergency vehicles in route to fires and medical emergencies!!!!. Each raised speed bump / cross walk causes a heavy firetruck to slow enough to safely cross it which adds an additional 10 seconds to the arrival time. Seven such structures will slow the emergency responce time by approximately 70 seconds which could mean life or death to a heart attack victim or allow a fire to engage an additional room in a house due to the delay.
Radar Speed Signs have been shown to be as effective as speed bumps in calming traffic with fare less expense to install and maintain as well as causing less wear and tear on passing vehicles and allowing emergency responce vehicles to consistently maintain the maximum allowable speed thus arriving in a more effective lifesaving time.
