Most of the animals were found living in squalor, ill and several deceased. After discovering the animals, authorities did not even charge this guy who was in clear evidence of animal abuse, cruelty and neglect.
In Muncie, Indiana, authorities were alerted about a business suite with a tremendous foul odor from within. When entering the address, they found some 600 to 700 animals living within the area estimated to be the size of a small garage. A man was living within the small space with the animals. Animal shelter authorities stated that “It’s just a really kind of bizarre situation. There’s not much rhyme or reason to it. It was just a one of a kind call; only kind I’ve ever been on like that before."
A Muncie building commissioner is the one who noted the strong smell seeping through the walls of the suite which turned out to be the result of the hundreds of animals within. “The first thing you saw when you walked in was just a wall that was filled with mice and rats," stated the authorities. “We counted, we had to individually count every single mouse and there’s a total of 500." They found the animals taking up space at the front of the garage and near the back there was an 8 and 10 foot python, 7 lizards, hedgehogs, an alligator and a parrot.
After finding all these animals in such horrific conditions, many deceased or ill, this man was not charged other than citations for having some exotic pets; Muncie has a strict ban on exotic pets, including snakes and alligators. This guy obviously violated more than the ban on specific types of pets; it is a clear case of neglect and abuse in the care of these creatures he took responsibility for.

Muncie, Indiana Law Enforcers and Judicial System - The gentleman who was discovered in a business suite with more than 600 animals needs to be held accountable for his behavior, not just for violating the ban on exotic animals but also the ill-treatment and neglect all the animals received. The smell alone was evidence enough that these poor animals endured improper care, neglect and abuse. This guy needs to be punished severely for all counts of possession of exotic animals along with animal cruelty and abuse!
