Stop Short Term Rentals

Senate Bill 1350 went into effect about a year and a half ago. This Bill allows people to rent their homes for a minimum of two days. In that time we now have at least ten of these businesses operating in Ponderosa Park, probably more. I have six of the advertised ten businesses within sight of my home. The patrons at these short-term rentals are here for a good time, they have no idea how their being here affects our community. And this has the potential of happening every other day, times ten.

These are not peoples homes they are small businesses. Some of these homes were specifically purchased and remodeled solely for the intent of renting them short-term for profit. They have even gone as far as putting up a sign to name their businesses, just take a walk down Quartz or Libby. With the number of homes being bought and sold in Ponderosa Park we could have many more of these rentals in a very short time.

Other developments such as ours that have HOA's have been able to limit such rentals to no less than 30 days. Within the Cities they are able to have better regulation and control of these businesses, unfortunately our being in the County doesn't help us.

We need better regulation of this Bill. I feel it's unpresidented that I should have a half a dozen Holiday Inn's as neighbors. Please support this cause and sign the petition before this happens on your block.

This is a PSA for the signing of the petition only. If you don't care if you have several small businesses operating right next to your own home then that's your prerogative. If you disagree with this, I can only ask that you keep it to yourself. Thank you.

After I feel we have enough signatures I will compose a letter to the State and Gov. Doug Ducey. I can't imagine that he would care for a half a dozen small businesses operating right next door to his house either.
