JUSTICE FOR SHANDA

  • by: B. Nyberg
  • recipient: Indiana Parole Board
12 year old Shanda Sharer was brutally tortured and murdered in January of 1992. Indiana has dubbed this the most brutal crime in it's history and the criminals a group of teenage girls led by Melinda Loveless.

Loveless is scheduled to appear before a Jefferson Circuit Court in two weeks. Her attorney, Mark Small, will argue that her sentencing rights were violated and that her legal representation was lacking in her original trial.

In January of 1993 Loveless was sentenced to 60 years in prison for her crimes against Shanda which included murder, arson, battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, criminal confinement, and intimidation. He charged Loveless and Tackett with seven additional crimes, including child molesting, criminal deviant conduct and felony murder.

Loveless was not supposed to be eligible for parole until the year 2022 but is trying every legal maneuver to gain her freedom. She has never shown remorse or shame for her crimes against Shanda.

Let's make it clear that we, the American public, is tired of the early releases of dangerous criminals and expect our judicial system and lawmakers to make 60 years mean just that, 60 years!
