PETITION TO KENYA PARLIAMENT ON BEHALF OF MWENDE MWINZI

Please Sign this Petition and Demand that Kenyan Members of Parliament (The Whole House) expunge the requirement for Mwende Mwinzi to renounce her US citizenship as a condition for being appointed Kenya’s ambassador to South Korea
The affront to Mwende Mwinzi is an outrageous attack on the rights of all Kenyans, and especially diasporans, women, and future generation diasporans - our children and grandchildren. Has the same question - to renounce a USA, or any other citizenship - ever been posed to a Kenyan man? How many MPs, Cabinet Secretaries and other high ranking government officials today hold dual citizenships?
If allowed to stand, the decision to base Mwende’s appointment on her dual citizenship sets a dangerous precedent to all Kenyans, and especially Kenyans with dual citizenship, and is an assault on their constitutional rights to hold a public office.
As the matter comes for discussion by the full House of Parliament (National Assembly) today, Thursday, June 6, 2019, we Kenyans in the diaspora and friends of the diaspora demand that our parliament immediatly drop the condition requiring Mwende Mwinzi to renounce her US citizenship in order to take up Ambassador's position in South Korea. The Constitution of Kenya, the Supreme Law of the land, guarantees Mwende's fair treatment regarding this appointment.
We Kenyan Diasporans feel that it is discrimination against all of us to ask Mwende Mwinzi to denounce her US citizenship, and therefore, herein, petition those of you in Parliament who are vetting her appointment today to approve her appointment without demanding that she denounce her US citizenship.
