Etiquette Lessons in Los Angeles Public Schools.

We, the undersigned, hereby petition the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to implement comprehensive etiquette lessons in all public schools within the district.

In today's rapidly changing society, the importance of etiquette cannot be overstated. Etiquette encompasses a wide range of social skills and behaviors that are essential for success in both personal and professional settings. However, many young people are entering adulthood without adequate knowledge of basic etiquette, which can hinder their ability to navigate social situations and succeed in their future endeavors.

We propose the incorporation of etiquette lessons into the curriculum of all grade levels within the Los Angeles Unified School District. These lessons would cover essential topics such as:

Communication Skills: Teaching students how to effectively communicate verbally and non-verbally, including proper introductions, active listening, and body language.
Social Media Etiquette: Educating students on responsible and respectful behavior online, including cyberbullying prevention and the impact of social media on relationships and reputation.
Dining Etiquette: Providing instruction on table manners and proper dining etiquette for both formal and informal settings, preparing students for social gatherings and professional events.
Respect for Diversity: Promoting understanding and respect for cultural differences, gender equality, and inclusivity in all interactions.
Professional Etiquette: Equipping students with the skills necessary to navigate professional environments with confidence, including attire, email etiquette, and workplace communication.
By incorporating etiquette lessons into the curriculum, LAUSD can empower students with the social skills and confidence they need to succeed in all aspects of their lives. These lessons will not only enhance students' personal relationships and social interactions but also prepare them for future academic and professional opportunities.

We urge the Los Angeles Unified School District to prioritize the implementation of etiquette lessons in all public schools within the district. By investing in the social development of our students, we can ensure that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and diverse world.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
