SAVE the Barrier Dunes Sanctuary!

The Barrier Dunes Sanctuary is a natural environment set aside by the State of Michigan to be held in perpetuity for recreational use only.
By signing this petition you are requesting:
1) this natural feature, the Barrier Dune Sanctuary, be left untouched by any action that would damage or destroy this "critical dunes area" that includes 80 degree slopes, trees and foliage essential to the surrounding wetlands, and dune ecosystem which is home to a diverse species of plants, fish, birds and other animals on the Lake Michigan coastline;
2) that White River Township and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will refuse any current or future permits that involve any kind of development within the Barrier Dunes Sanctuary boundaries.
