"Justin Charles Mitchell, 41, was charged with unlawful confinement or abandonment of an animal and aggravated animal cruelty," reported the Florida Times Union.
When deputies confronted him, Mitchell claimed that he had checked on his poor dog within the last two hours.
But then he unlocked his car for them, and the truth was inescapable...
His poor dog was dead.
Deputies judged the poor little thing had likely been there for more than 24 hours.
Imagine what that poor animal's final moments must have been like.
You sit alone in a car, without food or water.
You watch through the closed windows, hoping that the person you love more than anyone else will come to get you.
But you don't seen them anywhere.
It gets hotter and hotter. You start panting.
A cool drink might save your life, but that's not an option.
You get hotter and hotter. You can tell that you're dying.
You whimper in pain, crying out for rescue that never comes.
No animal should suffer a fate like this.
But that was the reality for Mitchell's defenseless dog.
Don't you think it's a crime to leave an animal unattended in a car for any length of time?
