There is no point pretending anymore. President Trump's horrific response to the global COVID-19 outbreak will cost the United States tens of thousands of lives.
The lead scientist on the White House coronavirus response taskforce, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said as much on Easter weekend, telling Jake Tapper:
"Obviously, you could logically say that if you had a process that was ongoing and you started mitigation earlier, you could have saved lives. Obviously, no one is going to deny that."
But the President of the United States is denying that. Worse, he and his cronies continue to let the worst elements of partisan politics dictate his strategy — denying medical equipment and protective gear to the hardest hit hospitals, refusing lifesaving vote-by-mail, and on — further ensuring that more American lives will be lost.
This is an abomination that we cannot stand for. Everyday that Trump's anti-science GOP enablers and family members dictate America's response to this pandemic, innocent lives are lost.
