Coach Lionell and Coach Speedwell have been a staple in the NYFL community for many years. Coach Lionell has impacted the lives of children in the Norwich community for over twenty years. His can do attitude and his ability to connect with children on their level is both a blessing and a trait that not many men have. He has a passion for football that is surpassed only for the passion he holds to see the youngsters he coaches succeed. Not only on the football field, but in life. It is his life experiences that help mold the children he coaches. Many children who are in their teens and twenties now, have been coached and mentored by Coach Lionell and are productive members of society. Some children he has coached have gone on to play Division 1 college football. AND EARN A DEGREE!! That is a coaches impact. That is Coach Lionell.
Coach Speedwell has a child in the NYFL program right now. He has been an integral part of the coaching staff. Helping to develop discipline and accountability within our ranks. While at the same time remembering that the kids are... kids.
As a coach myself, it has been a pleasure and an honor to have these two on staff helping our youth in Norwich become stronger, better people. To ACT like champions.
Not by holding them to their past, but by encouraging and teaching them about what the future can hold.
