RRS Boaty Mcboatface winner of the public vote for the new Polar research ship should be upheld

The National Environment Research Council should uphold the public's vote to name the new Polar explorer vessel RRS Boaty Mcboatface.

The overwhelming response of the general public should be respected. People took part in a national competition in the genuine belief that the overwhelming response would secure a winning name.

Don't ignore the people's voice! Please sign our petition and demand that The National Environment Research Council (NERC) respects the public's overwhelming desire to name the fine new explorer vessel Boaty Mcboatface.

Update #17 years ago
I would like to thank all those who joined in with my petition to support the original name voted for by the British public on the National Environmental Research Council website to uphold RRS Boaty McBoatface, unfortunately we have lost as the Council has over ridden the vote to name the ship The RRS Sir David Attenborough, although by way of some conciliation the deep sea rover WILL
be called Boaty McBoatface
A victory of sorts! maybe for all those with a sense of humour.

Kevin Wilkes.
